The story of Zoeca began in California. I was there for holidays. I was really impressed by the street markets and all the independent designers there. Back home, I started to put some ideas on paper. A few weeks later, I went to my boyfriend's father who is a smith and I tried to make the designs on my own. The first jewels were a line of different bracelets. I give them to my friends and everyone liked them, so I started going to the street markets in Austria. This was about 1.5 years ago. Over time, I received so much positive feedback, so I expanded my business. I swapped the production out to other countries and started to concentrate on the design process.
All jewels are inspired from different countries I've travelled to, different cultures and all of them have a bit of an architectural background, probably due to my design background. I like to combine simple shapes with beautiful materials like gemstones.
Zoeca only uses antiallergic materials for our jewelry line. We use brass as a base material because it is very flexible and has a long tradition in jewelry design. All our jewels are rhodium and gold plated too. Most of our jewelry is handmade. We source for the most sparkling gemstones all over the world for our creations.
What do you wish to accomplish with Zoeca in the future? What's your vision?
The most important thing is that I continue to have fun doing this in the future. Of course I'm dream to create a well-know international brand. It's hard work, but I believe that to achieve your goals you have to work on them passionately.
What's your favorite part about being in the jewelry space?
To travel around the world and meet so many lovely new people. Always to make new jewelry creations!
What do you want women to feel when they wear Zoeca?
Of course beautiful! I also want them to feel that they are wearing a piece of the Zoeca brand and are part of our journey. I think we transmit a special lifestyle of being easy going, being yourself and enjoying every moment.
What sets you apart from other designers?
That's a really difficult question because there are so many beautiful jewelry brands on the market. But I think one main point is that ZOECA is really personal. We appreciate every customer. Also, we have a pretty good price range.
What have you learned so far in this business?
Dream & believe! It's hard to start a business and much harder with all the competition around. You have to stay above negative comments or bad days. You have to be yourself and you can't stop after you've had a good run. There are many similar brands on the market so it is really helpful to do the work with a lot of passion.
What's your favorite place in the world and why?
I really really like to travel and see the world! I'm still in love with California. I love the lifestyle there. I'm also fascinated by Hong Kong, it's such an inspiring city with a mixture of cultures.
But honestly, my favorite place on earth is home - Austria, Zoeca's headquarters.
What kind of media have you received since launching Zoeca?
Zoeca is already well known across Austria. We've been featured in many local magazines. But we also reach a high range abroad from Austria. We have about 10k Instagram followers and about 17k FB Likes. We were featured in magazines like Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Harpers Bazaar. We stay in contact with local stars and models from around the world to do cooperation.
